The improbable is now probable once again: facing 50:1 odds in the Kentucky Derby, Mine That Bird wowed the crowd with a last minute dash on the inside rail for the finish. Now, Mine That Bird looks for yet another win at the 134th Preakness Stakes, hosted by Pimlico Racecourse.

Joining Mine That Bird from last weekend’s Derby will be Papa Clem, General Quarters, and Musket Man, and a few others. There will also be some new faces in the 14 horse race. If Mine that Bird wins Preakness, the second leg of the fame Triple Crown honors, history could be in the making.
Overall wagering action for the Kentucky Derby was strong despite fears that the economy would diminish gambling from the general public. In fact, there were a few people who even won big money last weekend with off-handed bets on Mine that Bird. One lucky gambler, who bet $1 on a superfecta, walked away with a $278,000 prize before taxes. His bet was placed at an offtrack betting center in Texas.
