And September is finally here! Will Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators bring home the BCS National Championship? Will Sam Bradford win the Heisman (Again…) and take the Oklahoma Sooners to the National Championship against Tebow and the Gators? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: college football betting has begun.
Regular season NFL betting doesn’t begin until September 10th, 2009, but that doesn’t mean you have to mope around the house with football betting fever. Instead, whet your betting appetite with a little old fashioned college football betting, with action beginning Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 7:00 PM EST with South Carolina at North Carolina State, covered by ESPN. Also kicking off at 7:00 PM is Troy at Bowling Green, Villanova at Temple, and Costal Carolina at Kent State.
The top game of the day will probably be No. 16 Oregon against No.14 Boise State, starting at 10:15 EST. This one is too close to call, especially this early in the season. If the two teams were mismatched, the obvious bet would be to go with the favorite, but this isn’t the case.
The bulk of Week 1 College Football betting action (which precedes the start of NFL betting by just 5 days) will be this Saturday, September 5, 2009, with just over 20 games literally happening around the clock starting with Central Arkansas at Hawaii at 1:05 AM ET, and finishing up with No. 11 LSU at Washington at 10:30 PM EST. That gives betters a great window of opportunity to play around with their wagers: if you lose early on in the day, recalibrate and place your bets for the night games.
The top 3 teams, No. 1 Florida, No. 2 Texas, and No. 3 Oklahoma respectively each take on their competitors at 7:00 PM ET. Oklahoma is the only team that will face another ranked team, taking on No. 20 Brigham Young University. The Florida and Texas games should be fairly decisive.
That said, once you’ve warmed up with Week 1 of College football, get ready for the NFL betting regular season which is literally just days away!
