Coming off a loss in the CFP Semifinal, Clemson was looking to bounce back with Trevor Lawrence’s first year with Clemson. As a freshman, Lawrence started behind Kelly Bryant but eventually became the starter for the Tigers. On November 3, the Tigers offense could not be stopped in the 77-16 win over Louisville.

Then, on December 1, the Tigers took on Pittsburgh in the ACC Championship Game. Clemson won, 42–10, and then moved to the CFP Semifinal, the Cotton Bowl. Clemson blew out Notre Dame, 30-3, behind 327 passing yards from Lawrence. The CFP National Championship was between Clemson and Alabama, the Tigers won, 44-16, to finish the season 15-0.

North Dakota State

  • Bowl Game – FCS Championship Game (38-24 win) vs. Eastern Washington
  • Key Matchup – 21-17 win vs. No. 3 South Dakota on September 29, 2018

The North Dakota State Bison, the dominant FCS school, avenged the 2016 FCS Championship Semifinal loss with a 2017 title win against James Madison. North Dakota State’s 2018 reign as defending champions began with a September 1 contest in which the Bison hosted Cal Poly. QB Easton Stick and the Bison got the season off to a great start with a 49-3 blowout win. On September 29, the Biston won, 21-17, over No. 3 South Dakota State.

Later in the season, the Biston’s November schedule began with a close 17-7 win over Youngstown State. Then, North Dakota State’s offense was impressive, as the squad scored at least 35 points in its final six games of the season. The Bison ended up making it back-to-back championships with a 38-24 win in the FCS Championship Game to complete the undefeated season.

Princeton

  • Coach – Bob Surace
  • Top Players – QB John Lovett, RB Charlie Volker, WR Jesper Horsted
  • Bowl Game – No bowl game played
  • Key Matchup – 14-9 victory against No. 24 Dartmouth on November 3, 2018

In Bob Surace’s ninth season as the head coach of the Princeton Tigers, the squad opened the season at Butler. Princeton blew out Butler, 50-7, and then returned home to do the same to Monmouth by the score of 51-9. Princeton went on to win the next three games and score at least 45 points in each of them.

Later in the season, Princeton went to Yale to try to keep the perfect season going. The Tigers went into this game with an 8-0 record, and Princeton played a very high-scoring game in New Haven, Connecticut. Princeton won, 59-43, to move to 9-0. Then, the season finale was a home game against Penn. Princeton made it easy, as the Tigers won, 42-14, to complete the 10-0 perfect season.
