David Freese 2011

No one played a more pivotal role for St.Louis in the 2011 postseason than David Freese. He drove in four runs in game four of the National League Divisional Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. This performance gave the Red Birds a much-needed win that tied the series at two. The Cardinals won game five to advance to the NLCS.

Freese played at an insane level against the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2011 NLCS. He hit .545, drove in nine runs, and scored seven times. He easily won the NLCS MVP and got the Red Birds in the 2011 World Series.

In that fall classic against the Texas Rangers is perhaps where most fans remember him from. In game six with the Cardinals down 7-5 with two outs and two runners on, Freese laced a ball to deep center field for a triple that tied the game at seven. St.Louis faced elimination in that game, and were one strike away from losing. Later in that game, Freese launched a 420-foot home run that secured the win for the Cardinals. The Red Birds won the World Series in seven games, and Freese won the MVP honors.

Eddie Rosario 2021

Overall, the 2021 postseason for the Atlanta Braves felt like a team that heated up at the right time. Under .500 at the start of August, one of the players that the Bravos traded for included Eddie Rosario. Injured at the time, but he made a mark in that 2021 season.

In a crucial NLCS for the Atlanta Braves, Rosario made all the difference. After falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS in the 2020 season, and losing a 3-1 lead, the Braves faced the same team that broke its’ heart and won the World Series.

Rosario hit an absurd .560 with three homers and nine RBIs in six games. This vaulted the Braves over the Dodgers.

While his World Series performance proved less than stellar, a .227 average with no RBIs, he managed a .346 on-base percentage.

Rosario without a doubt was one of the players  that pushed Atlanta from almost out of the postseason to World Series champions.

Reggie Jackson 1978

Arguably one of the best postseason performers in baseball. He did not get the name Mr. October for nothing.

While there are many moments to pick from Jackson’s career the 1978 postseason is perhaps his best.

In the 1978 ALCS between the Yankees and Royals, Jackson hit an incredible .462 with two homers and six RBIs. One of his four home runs came in game one of the ALCS where the Yankees won 7-1.

Mr. October later closed out the 1978 postseason with another home run in game six of the World Series as Yankees beat the Dodgers in six games.

What made this run more remarkable was the consistency Jackson performed at. While 1977 was memorable for the three home runs in three swings, he recorded an abysmal .125 batting average in the 1977 ALCS.

In the 1978 run he hit .462 in the ALCS and .391 in the World Series. This gave him and incredible .417 average.
