I’ll Have Another had other thoughts. Many wrote him off as a lucky closer earlier this month at the Derby. Today, he shoved the tough words right back into the mouths of the doubters: once again, he hunted Bodemeister down in the final 200 yards of the race, edging him out by a good head’s length at the finish line. Baffert’s cool confidence was in the right place, but the real star of the day was I’ll Have Another, once brushed aside as a claim horse with no future.
